Abstract
Social media has become an integral component of modern dermatologic practice, leadership, and branding. While digital engagement offers substantial benefits-including patient education, professional visibility, and practice growth-it simultaneously presents ethical, legal, and reputational hazards. This article examines both the pearls and perils of social media use in dermatology, emphasizing evidence-informed engagement strategies, common pitfalls, and targeted risk-mitigation frameworks. Dermatologists who approach social media with intentionality, professionalism, and structural safeguards can harness its advantages while minimizing exposure to preventable harms.
