Abstract

Social media has become an essential extension of dermatologic practice, influencing patient education, professional branding, and the public's understanding of skin health. This article provides a practical, clinician-focused guide outlining the pearls and pitfalls of social media use in dermatology. Topics include branding, content strategy, ethical considerations, patient engagement, workflow efficiency, and risk mitigation. A thoughtful, authentic, and well-defined digital presence can strengthen trust, expand access to evidence-based dermatology information, and enhance academic visibility. Poorly planned or inconsistently managed accounts may expose clinicians to misinformation spread, reputational risk, and medicolegal concerns.
